We are seeking a Field Biomedical Technician / Field Service Technician to join our team. This role is heavily travel-based (75–100%) and requires significant time on the road to support installations and service nationwide. When not traveling, this individual will report to and work from our Costa Mesa, CA location.
This opportunity is ideal for a biomedical technician with dialysis experience (heavily preferred) or anyone with medical device servicing experience who is looking to make a direct impact in patient care.
In-Field Responsibilities
- Deliver, install, and service Quanta’s dialysis systems across customer sites nationwide.
- Conduct pre-installation facility surveys to determine site readiness.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues, including machine fault-finding and diagnostics, escalating complex cases as needed.
- Identify and report observed or suspected issues, support root cause identification, and contribute to issue triage and resolution processes.
- Provide on-site support for customer questions, assist in basic training efforts, and support rectification of issues reported by users in the field.
- Support delivery and logistics of new equipment within the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with Clinical, Sales, Marketing, and R&D teams to create a seamless customer experience.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and regulatory standards while performing field activities.
In-House Responsibilities
- Build, upgrade, rework, repair, and maintain clinical and development machines.
- Support definition and execution of machine and sub-system tests, including functional, performance, and safety evaluations.
- Ensure complete and accurate quality record-keeping, including machine configuration, modifications, maintenance, and repairs throughout the lifecycle.
- Maintain segregation of clinical and non-clinical stock, equipment, and materials, including non-conforming materials, in accordance with procedures.
- Enforce ESD controls and good workshop practices in all machine management processes and infrastructure activities.
- Support external manufacturing partners in developing their ability to build, test, fault-find, and repair machines.
Requirements/Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant technical experience such as biomedical technician work, field service, medical device maintenance, or mechanical/electrical repair.
- Dialysis equipment experience strongly preferred; other medical device servicing experience will be considered.
- Customer-facing experience and excellent professional communication skills required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with service apps or ERP tools.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Able to lift up to 70 lbs and safely handle equipment and tools in healthcare environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally 75–100%, including frequent air travel and overnight stays.
